LOCAL YOGURT SHOP RETURNS TO PROMENADE ON THE PENINSULA
On June 30, local frozen yogurt shop Yummy Yogurt closed down. This disappointed many local customers. Freshman Emma Adams recalls the day of its closing.
“Obviously, I was as sad as the next,” Adams said. “And yes, tears were shed. I had actually just come home from a vacation. I saw that it had closed on the way home.”
Many more people felt this way upon hearing that the shop had closed down so promptly. However, things may turn around for those in the community who enjoyed Yummy Yogurt. The prior owner, Rey Chen, will be passing the establishment onto Doug Wroan, who, according to The Daily Breeze, said he wants to maintain the community tradition of Yummy Yogurt for families and friends to be able to continue to make memories.
The new establishment, which will be called It’s Yummy Yogurt, is set to open in late October, with an exact date yet to be determined. Sophomore Will Brach who also was a frequent customer at Yummy Yogurt, was surprised to hear that the business was being passed on.
“I think what really made it special was that you felt like family there,” Brach said. “In my opinion, it really made the experience authentic. I do not know if it will retain that sort of feeling once its passed on.”
Either way, It’s Yummy Yogurt will be a new addition to the Promenade on the Peninsula, and may bring back some of the memories many made at Yummy Yogurt.
“I think it will be a refreshing start,” sophomore Nathan Wang said. “[Yummy Yogurt] has been gone long enough.”
